So I wanted to take some time today to go over some of my pet peeves when dealing with a security system. Not all security systems are built alike, and these pet peeves are not associated with the reviews we have here of the top security systems on the market. But I wanted to list off a few of the most annoying problems consumers (myself included) face when dealing with security systems. If you have these problems on a regular basis, if might be time to try something new.
1) No DIY installation. For most people, this ability is going to be a huge time saver, and money saver. The professional is no smarter than I am and if you give me proper instructions, I can certainly install this DIY security system within 30-60 minutes. Then I don’t have to pay anyone to do it OR take off of work to wait for the professional to show up at my home.
2)No clear cut answer to pricing. Now, I am not saying the cost needs to be plastered across the website, but it shouldn’t be hard to get a quote! Any company that is not giving you all the information, right upfront, might not be the best be out there. You dont want to be getting slammed with hidden fees down the road.
3) Poor customer service. This one really grinds my gears. I want a security system company that is going to give me top notch customer support. Any company that doesn’t answer your questions fully when you call, or leave you with a worried feeling is not for you. You might be signing a contract for multiple years… so are you really going to want to put up with poor customer support along the way?
4) No money back guarantee/ free trial. Eventually you might be signing a contract for multiple years. Who’s to know if this particular security system is the best bet for you? You have to try it first to see if you like it and if you don’t like it, then you should be able to return in. If a company is not super confident in their product, and knows you are not going to return it, then why bother
So there you have it! My list of biggest pet peeves in the security system industry. If you’re new and not sure what exactly you are looking for, maybe let these signs deter you from lesser quality security systems. We’ve spent a great deal of time reviewing some of the top security systems on the market, so be sure to check it out because they don’t grind my gears with these pet peeves like some security systems on the market.
