I am very interested in some of the security companies that offer do it yourself security. I have never tried a diy security system before and am afraid I’m going to screw it up! Haha! Anyone else out there that’s installed a diy system before that can help me calm my anxiousness? Thanks in advance!

Hello Jenny! You should definitely not be afraid of a do it yourself security system. A do it yourself security system installation is quick and easy. Most importantly, no experience is needed! Plenty of folks have installed a DIY security system with no trouble their first time out. You may want to visit the website of a few of the DIY security companies. There will likely be some videos explaining and showing the DIY installation process. Of course, many of the these companies offer a “trial period” or money back guarantee, so worst case scenario you get the system and return it for a refund if you cannot install it. We have total faith in you though Jenny! You can do it!

I currently have a hard wired security system in my house that was installed by the previous owner. I’ve only used it a handful of times but would like to get rid of it and get a newer system. These DIY security systems seem very simple and reliable, which is what I’m looking for. Any advice on how I can get the old system out so I can install the do it yourself security?

    Thank you,

Yes! Yes! Yes! Do it yourself security systems truly are the best. I had a terrrrible experience with another security company who had sent someone out to my home. Not only was he two hours late, he didn’t finish the job the same day. They tried to charge me for the extra day!! Once we got through that debacle the system failed on my a couple days later. Started making all these funny noises and disarming at random times. I finally just told the company to come and take it out. Luckily I negotiated well enough for them not to charge me for that!

I then got a DIY security system so I didn’t have to deal with another hassle. Boy do I wish I would have done that in the beginning. It took my 20 minutes to set up the system (for 3 doors and two motion sensors and a couple other small sensors) and get it activated. I had allotted two hours out of my day just in case. I literally sat down on my couch and didn’t know what to do with the ‘extra’ time I had!! Ha!! Anyone trying to decide between a DIY security system and a pro installed one go with DIY. You might not have the same experiences I did but trust me when I say anyone can do it!

I have a do it yourself security system for a few years now. I live in a VERY humid area though and like to leave the windows open a lot. I found that the adhesive for the security system sensors seems to “decay” over the course of time. I attribute a lot of that to the moisture in the air. Was looking to get some more DIY security system adhesive, if that’s what it’s called, haha. I’m also guessing that maybe the adhesive is the same as stuff I can buy at the hardware store. Any advice on how to get some extra adhesive? Or maybe some advice on other mounting methods? Appreciate it. Figured you guys would know, the security system information here is great you guys know your stuff.

Hello! Thanks for coming by Security System Reviews!

You can certainly find the adhesive for your DIY security system from a local hardware store. In fact, you may be able to find other adhesives for the wireless security system there as well. You can also contact your do it yourself security system company to ask about additional adhesive. Thanks for coming by!

FrontPoint had me sold the first time I called. I read the DIY security system reviews and called FrontPoint and Protect America. Called PA first. They were very good, had a great price and what seems like a great security system. However, when I called FrontPoint I was blown away. The consultant was thorough and walked me through the whole process of explaining the system, why and how things work, the options I had, and what was best for my home. I purchased right then and there from FrontPoint. No need to call anyone else. My experience continued to great with the DIY security system installation; it was quick and painless. Took about an hour and I have a fairly large home with a lot of doors and windows. All in all I must say my experience with FrontPoint and DIY security systems has been great thus far. Would recommend to others.

Installing the do it yourself security system was very easy. If anyone is looking at them and wondering if it is easy to do it really is. It did not take me very long to install the security system and I had only a limited time to do it one morning when my schedule was free and the kids were at soccer practice. If you looking at a DIY security system just know it really is easy and it does save you money on the installation. Good luck.

    Thank you
