Unfortunately, most people acknowledge the colossal importance of a home security system only when their property gets vandalized by a gang of perpetrators, or when they hear about a new heinous crime committed in their area. Mount Oliver residents have every reason to feel concerned about their own safety, since a 49-year old individual was recently killed in the borough during a burglary attempt gone wrong.
According to law enforcement representatives, Nicholas Fiumaro, the victim, was shot several times by an unidentified suspect in his apartment located on Stamm Avenue. Apparently, the fatal home invasion can’t be cataloged as an isolated incident, since Mount Oliver is far from being a safe haven for people who live and work in this Allegheny County borough.
Mount Oliver residents affirm that “questionable activities” are a common problem and that they fear for their lives day and night. They try to protect their assets and their loved ones at all costs, by monitoring their neighborhood and by purchasing and installing home security system equipment.
I try to keep aware of the surroundings. It’s what you have to do. It’s crazy to be that way, but it’s the way,” stated Dorian Knight, one of the many locals who are now living in terror after hearing the recent news about the Stamm Avenue homicide.
Law enforcement representatives have refused to provide any information related to this event and no suspects have been taken into custody so far. Since representatives from the local police department fail to address their security needs and concerns, most residents take this matter into their own hands and strive to identify the best security systems for their properties.
Apparently, the sky is the limit when it comes to finding home security systems that are actually worth every cent. Prospects have two main alternatives at hand: they could either opt for sophisticated home security system equipment with a wide range of hi-tech features, provided by reputable manufacturers, or they could go for DIY security systems based on free or inexpensive apps and digital cameras.
All in all, potential buyers should make sure that their lock and key mechanism is not the only element of home security to stand in the way of skilled burglars, who might be operating in their neighborhood.
Each year in the U.S. there are more than five million home burglaries. Nine out of ten of these crimes are preventable. The risk of being burglarized can be greatly reduced by taking simple steps to make your home more difficult to enter and less enticing to would-be burglars. Remember the greatest weapons in the fight to prevent burglaries are light, time and noise,” reveal officials from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, who provide valuable and incredibly simple crime prevention tips that could be applied by any family.
